Self-healing can be stated as the capability of a material to heal (repair/recover) damages autonomously and automatically, without some external intervention. Several common terms such as autonomic-healing, self-repairing, and autonomic-repairing are utilized to determine such property in materials. Integration of self-healing properties among manmade materials usually cannot achieve the self-healing act without an outside trigger. Therefore, self-healing can be of the two types autonomic (with no intervention) and non-autonomic (requires human intervention/external triggering). Increasing defense spending is one of the major factors boosting the market demand across the globe. Global military expenditure was totaled approx.$1.7 trillion in 2015, a rise of 1% in factual terms from 2014, as per figures from Institute SIPRI (the Stockholm International Peace Research).  The increase of 1% growth in military spending happens due to constant growth in Asia and Oceania, some Middle Eastern states and Central and Eastern Europe. They are involved in conflict or confronted with heightening regional pressures. Military expenditure in Asia and Oceania grew by 5.4% in 2015 and was deeply influenced by China. Intensifying tensions between China and other countries in the region supported to substantial increase in spending by the Philippines, Indonesia and Viet Nam. Thus, growing defense spending has increased the demand for defense systems which ultimately leads the demand for self-healing materials for such systems.
